Working at my LHS doing repairs, my boss asked me to look for some traction tires, as we had some Tyco and Bachmann engines in with dried up rings on them. Took me a few days, but I found a supplier on Ebay ( in China, natch ), and ordered some 14mm O-rings with 1mm cross-section. Tiny ones are hard to get in the USA! I had no luck finding any small quantity for sale in the US, all suppliers wanted a minimum buy of 500-1000 pieces. So I found this chinese supplier, and ordered 100 for $3, plus $2 shipping. Hmm. Only took 1 WEEK to show up on my doorstep, I was surprised, it said allow 2-3 weeks. Anyway, I used one on this Mantua steam engine, and it worked great. Next up was a Bachmann F7, had 4 traction rings, all cracked and dried out. Back to Ebay, this time I ordered an assortment, from 9mm up to 18mm. The Bachmann needed 10mm, so the 9's should work. Again, only took one week to arrive, and I got the Bachmann reshoed with new rubber, and it ran great. So if you're looking to find the small 1mm diameter O-rings, might want to check out Ebay for this overseas supplier, I'm real happy with the cost and quickness of shipping. Too bad the USA suppliers want a huge minimum buy, or I'd use them, but their loss.

The Seller name on Ebay is Merlintools . You can click on any of the O-ring auctions, and at the top, it will show a box you can select size of o-ring and quantity. There are two sizes, the diameter of the O-ring material, and the full OD size. 1mm is pretty much the size that will fit in that tiny groove, anything else is too big. I just added to my basket, then did a check-out at the end for the 4 different sizes the 2nd order. Quality seems good, no seams in the O-rings, and price, shipping, and quickness are all good. I figured I have plenty of old Tyco engines, as well as Bachmann, that need new shoes, so it was worth ordering for the shop and myself. :)
