My photos from a June 30 trip to the Long Island Live Steamers club.
The train set is located near South Yaphank New York in Suffolk County.
Located in the South Haven Park near Route 27 in southern Long Island NY.
Very colorful area for photography.

There is a video on Youtube of a backyard railroad with a Tyco-esque Old Dutch Cleanser covered hopper. I hope it tracks better than the Tyco version.

All those trains you posted in the last two posts look awesome!Even that Thomas one (which is my least favorite in these photos) doesn't look too bad.

| The organization that runs these trains is called the Long Island Live Steamers. They have run trains since 1966 on 7.25 gauge track. They have videos of their runs on youtube. They operate twice a month on Sundays between May and October each year.

This photo of Ben resembles another person I saw at the Riverhead train show.
Perhaps Ben has a relative living on Long Island New York.
The resemblance does match a bit.

He closed it as of 2012
His wife bought him the train from an Amusement park
I believe he is a retired railroad employee
It is still set up but not open to the public anymore

It was a double oval ride in property that was once the Greenport Dump
The engine is Gasoline Powered
The Greenport Long Island Museum is there too as is the Riverhead branch of museum in Riverhead Also the fireboat The Fire Fighter which was NOT in the film Sully is on display at Greenport NY as well
Cause it was one of the first boats at the scene when the plane "llanded"

Found out that the village of Greenport NY bought the equipment and
track. They are in the process of setting it up on village property.

They had fishyback service at Oyster Bay as well It is the only surviving turntable that is functional
Was there in 1970 with the rs-2
spinning round on that thing like crazy
Nursery School trip
Recently a train broke down on the Oyster Bay Branch
When you took those pics at Sea Cliff you missed the former gravel coal siding
The facility is still in use but does stone and masonary work It was used by Long Island freight till the sixties The siding is still there on eastbound side though it may have been up rooted The track crossed the crossing to the facility
And before WW2 There was a Trolley line in Sea Cliff
Also that switch tower at the Locust Valley Station was featured in Model Railroader
AND SPEAKING OF GLEN HEAD

ANY RATE The steam engine is at Oyster Bay Restioation is about 1,000,000
A guy in Ohio Left his estate (bout 400'000) to the museum Some of his pieces are displayed at Riverhead
If you still have someone who watches Sesame Street Elmo segment feature Mother and son taking train Long Island to Greenport
Wks Did you ever get to the layout at East Williston Williston Park
AND FINALLY The Train Station there (kinda) was shown in comic Superman vs Spider Man 2
Superman rescues a kid
Considering that DC and Marvel both had offices in NY at the time you think they would have portrayed it correctly
They did not
Will be going to rail fest this year weather permiting

They are many years away from restoring steam engine 35.
Even restored it would be impossible to run her on LIRR tracks.
Oyster Bay branch is an active line as are other LIRR lines.
Would have to be run somewhere outside of New York.

AH The "Club Cars" Have some glasses from them
They moved the Roslyn station about 20 years ago
Saw my first freight train there at three years old. It was going backwards all box cars with green caboose so must have been a Penn Central The loco was brown striped diesel
Remember seeing Rocky goat box car on it
hope to get to rail fest this year as well thats where the Michigan Lionel Layout is now

Went to Montauk New York yesterday to escape the heat.
Felt much cooler by the Atlantic Ocean there yesterday.
Suffice to say I spent most of the day at beach areas.
Free shuttle bus stops at various places in Montauk.

Freight cars have traveled on LIRR trackage for decades Ben.
Today New York and Atlantic Railroad provides freight service.

I was told that the Wantagh Museum shots here were at one time thee rail route till it was moved further south the pics of Babylon Pride Trains factory was near that rail line in Lindenhurst Do not know if they still operate there ALL I DO KNOW IS They do NOT make Disney products anymore That was 2004
There also was a wood caboose near Calverton on someone's property do not know if it is still there

The station was always at grade level along with its tracks.
They were elevated in the 1960s along with the rest of the
Babylon branch stations. Old grade cross signal next to
crossing sign.
Went to Greenport New York yesterday.
Cool breeze off the bay made it comfortable yesterday. Fun train ride.
