My COTW is a Mantua Rio Grande 1890 combine coach I got with my Mantua 4-6-0 a couple of days ago.

The interior of a vintage Amtrak coach, I suspect from the very early days of Amtrak, say 1972? Of interest was that the paper silhouettes were held in with bits of (now yellow and crumbling) Scotch Tape and there was a strip of reflective foil along the base of the car to reflect the lamp. When first run, these coaches tumbled merrily off the rails. Lacking good lead weights, and nails and washers seemed to light, I grabbed a handful of crushed granite off my yard and glued them in place. You can see the results by clicking on the link below. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ykT39gJTQtg&feature=player_embedded

Here's a couple of recent yard sale/train show finds I just finished. The NYC is an Athearn I think, and the PRR is a Roco.

Chops, That Amtrak coach was actually Tyco's "new" version with the plastic trucks and brass pickup wipers. I think Tyco jumped the gun with the Amtrak scheme! I wonder if that's what happened with Tyco's Penn Central locos in Jade Green. Below is my Cotw find on the "old stuff" table at my local shop. All Varney with sprung trucks.

It's Santa Fe. You might be able to just make out the AT&SF on the left end. Here's one more cotw to post while I'm here...the real RGM&N owned only one 25 ton gas-mechanical loco and no cars to my knowledge, and only shipped about 30 loads before being abandoned. However in my world, they were somewhat more successful! The toughest thing about lettering this car was getting all those words in a straight line!

I have been tryng to get one of these 1977 MRIA Commemovative Box Cars for a ling time. Then at the end of May one of these came up on eBay and went for $90, I tapped out around $15. I won this one today for $50. Auctually, had somone not bid four times in the last 20 seconds, I would have had it for $15. Oh well, whoever you are you lost!!

back to my custom stuff
this started life as a Roundhouse cement hopper. where I live, OWL rock was next to the Baldwin Park (Azusa) Branch. Since the layout is loosely based on that branch (just...came out that way without realizing it) Owl would have rail based cement cars
just me Ray... and just because I have Tyco doesn't mean I am not a model railroader

It's an Elvis collector's H0 scale train set. That is really strange but cool. I like weird stuff.

Sweet troop car, I have seen a real one at a RR museum in New Buffalo,MI
in the Photo At the readers left hand side, with the two smaller windows, that is the Sergeants Room. In middle part is where the grunts were quartered. At the readers right side, no windows, that was the latrine end. It had one throne, one sink, and shower stall not much larger than a phone booth if you remember those
