My LOTW is my Rio Grande 4-6-0 from Mantua. It runs pretty good actually. Here it is!

Thank you. It runs good aside from the fact that it's not too good at low power although older engines in general aren't all that good at slower speeds.

Here is my current project. Added a plow, new horns and fixed a lot of errors made by the previous owner.

Nice loco's guys, I'm going with a Tyco style fantasy loco. An Athearn Dash 9 with a Hobbytown drive, NCE decoder and my paint and decals. It's a good runner. I finished it this morning. I have a second shell painted and decaled, looking for a chassis.

!943 era custom built and painted T&RGRR FT ABBA locomotive set.
this set is a Henz-57 mix the FTA unit shells are Bachmann. The A units are powered with Walther's P1000 F3 chassis. The FTB units are dummies with shortened Athearn F7 frames. The B bodies were purchased from Walthers, and I do not remember the vender. The AB sets are draw-bar connected with couplers on each end.. Custom paint and home made decals.

That gold on black just oozes class! I'm glad it wasn't up to me to do that complex paint scheme, but it's great to look at and I think it matches the 1943 era well. By the 1960's the railroads were simplifying expensive paint jobs like that, but before that, railroads would bother with them.

Ray, Your UP GP unit is great! As Miss Poppins would say Practically Perfect in every way! You do great work.
Don, Walt, & Jerry, the gold FT set was meant to duplicate the feel of the early EMD paint schemes without being a direct copy. Before my current plan, my first FT set was set in the late fifties and was an attempt to be a simple paint scheme that would be like so many in the decline era of that period. I switched to the war era because I like that period in history, and will now stay with it. Thanks for the comments.

My LOTW is a rather eclectic unit, I just bought it off Ebay. A shortened Pullman-type body mounted on an AHM Hustler chassis. I haven't tried to run it yet. Sort of a mini-inspection car, I guess. Liked the unit, so I got it. Would be fun to DCC this one to play with at shows.

get the oscar and the piker behind it
ok the long awaited "phase 1.1" C-630
so here she is back from the shop

took the shell off to show the Tsunami decoder and the new motor, it was one of those $2 motors that was mentioned in this forum...somewhere!

and another angle showing the speaker placement (I would've done a vid but it's hot, the layout is in a garage and I live next to a freeway)

next step on this beast will be the couplers, filling in the pilots and repainting it for a friend's private road
on a side note, I also have to turn the flanges down, granted my layout is code 100 but with the ballasting and all it's more like code 80
just me Ray... and just because I have Tyco doesn't mean I am not a model railroader

Jerry, Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but it looks a lot like your little critter uses part of a combine that came from Penn Line/Varney/Lifelike (depending on age). I'm guessing because of the baggage door and small window next to it. Chris

Those things are bizarre nonetheless. Plus, it seems like there's a prototype of some kind of almost every model train out there, even if it's a fantasy locomotive.

Got another TYCO collectible:
The Alco Century 430 in Santa Fe colors! Unfortunately, despite the bottom of the tank saying "MANTUA TYCO," it has the PowerTorque motor! It seems to crawl a bit when I tried running it, but I guess it needs some oil and lube...

"A lot of modellers out there who go to these train shows see broken HO stuff and go, 'This is useless' when, in reality, they can still be used for modeling whether it's as a prop on your layout or a cool project to make something old new again."

Nice job, Ray. I see you used one of those Igarashi motors (former Hobbytown stock). Is she quiet now, or is there noise from the gearing? It's definitely easier to repower than the U25c due to the length and reversible gearbox input shaft.

No she is not quiet at all, she sounds like an Alco 251-16 but seriously, the motor is real quiet And real smooth

I have a couple of those, Walt! An F7 and an F9. Impulse buys at a train show several years ago. $10 apiece I think. Regretted it later, because I didn't know what I was going to do with them!
