A while ago, I completed two MDT rebuilds, one in the livery of a mining firm on Lake Superior up in Minnesota- Northshore Mining. I recently completed a Bowser kit of a Pennsy N-5c and painted it in the same scheme, as a companion and book-end for those taconite hopper trains that the real railroad runs daily from it's mining operations to the ore docks on Lake Superior.

Unfortunately, I originally tried to do a white lettering sequence on the caboose side, but I had too much difficulty handling very small (1/8" height) individual letters, so I defaulted back to a black decal scheme- easier and much less fuss.

That blue is pale enough for the black letters to show. The paint is your usual crisp and well done job. Nice work.

Ron,

Those do look very good. You could try putting the black letters on a white stripe if you do this again. I think modelling license would allow that. The caboose looks good with black on blue.
