I stopped by a HL store Tuesday night on the way home from a trip to my company's Maryland office, and was primarily looking for diecast cars. But opposite them on the other side of the aisle, what a surprise, some Bachmann N and HO train sets. Nothing loose or single, just sets, and some track and one accessory, but having not seen ANY model train stuff in years in the stores, I was surprised to find some again. The Bachmann Dual Gate crossing using EZ track is a nice updated accessory, too. Just in case you're looking for a set, or a few pieces of EZ track, they have it again, at least in this Leesburg, VA store. :)

The last several times my wife has dragged me to Hobby Lobby here in the Charlotte, NC area, there have been a few train sets and scenic materials, and possibly other stuff I don't remember. Not a comprehensive selection, but at least it's something.

yep,, Hobby Lobby is where I picked my Bachmann Liberty Bell Special train set,,it was marked down to $107,,i could not pass that price up ! A great deal by HL standards, and hard to beat even in online stores like modeltrainstuff.com
Hobby Lobby used to have Fantastic mark ups pricewise,,then wondered why they did not sell !
I mean I remember seeing a Bachmann 2-6-2 Prairie marked at $156.99. At the time Bachmanns MSRP was only around $99. And I could find the EXACT same loco online for about $65. Go figure.

Went in a Hobby Lobby in Florence, Kentucky today and the store has the very same HO train inventory as the Zanesville store 4 miles from where I live. I went in the store wondering if all stores ordered the same products...
Went to Ceasar's Creek flea market in Waynesville, Ohio also. Bought an Ertl metal 57 Thunderbird for my brother in law. Thought of AMX Jerry when I spotted a Gremlin on the top shelf. Pulled my phone out for a picture but it had died...
Only 1 vendor had HO trains and a fairly nice bunch of cars , etc... But the prices were a little bit high, not crazy high though... I love to look at the stuff still but there's just I few more pieces that I'll ever buy, other than scenic products...

There's one about an hour from here, but I've never been to it. I have been to the one in Arlington TX, about 3 years ago. Glad to see any store carry train stuff but the prices were out the roof crazy. But you know to be fair, I think any prices over what you'd pay at a train show are too much.

I've bought some Woodland Scenics there and the prices aren't too bad. To be able to get them instantly is nice. I'm gonna place a large order on eBay with Omnimodels who has everything and reasonable. Most shipping is $1.99 for several small items. Free S&H on orders $69 or more.

When they clearanced out all their Woodland Scenics several years ago my wife cleaned up - $19.00 for $2.00 - it was great.

Tyo Nut, I hope they have a scenics clearance again soon! I am satisfied with their prices on the scenics grasses, etc. The nearest good hobby shop is an hour away... Opposed to 5 minutes to HL. Wish the Lobby had a larger selection to choose from...
