My BOTW is a roof. I like photographing trains with a structure interposing between. I like to think it gives a surreal your-in-the-photograph feel to it. Also, perhaps a bit of drama. The nice thing with this this new fangled digital photography is that one can take a kazillion photos until its right.

I have two buildings for my building of the week. I bought both at my local hobby store recently, $15 for each. An AHM service station and a Revell Weekly Herald.

my contribution this week is a WALTHERS BACKGROUND building for a module I am constructing still to do is the signs and some exterior detailing on the front as well as lighting. I still have to figure the best way to make the windows opaque yet let light shine through

The rooftop details were parts I had kicking around in my junk box.
That is an N scale MODEL POWER water tank on top. Seem to feel right

| Cool buildings. That "background" building, Leo, looks like it's more than in the background; the way you can roll your freight right on through to the covered loading docks, I presume? And, Jeff, that picture of the roof top really makes me want to show the scale sewer system I installed, but it's all "underground", so . . . not much to see now.

Actually, I wouldn't recommend buying the esso station kit. The instructions are poor, the plastic has ugly mold lines which have to be removed, and the finished building is so tiny it looks more like N scale. I may yet be able to make something out of my kit but I don't have high hopes and I can't say it was worth the money. I'm pretty disappointed especially with how cool it looks on the box.

| Useful info, thank you. I recently traded one off for a Myrtles, and feel I got the better deal. However, the gas station kit gives one the opportunity of taking out all those old Matchbox and Hot Wheel cars and lining them up like we did during the first Arab Oil Embargo 1979...

I pondered on the sewer system for a while and think I might be able to top it with my invisible catenary in the High Deserts of Texas. Sort of like Wonderwoman with her invisible jet plane, only more pragmatic:

Bought this basic Walthers Whistle Stop kit for $8. I painted the trim green, painted the chimney, and put window glazing in, and ended up with a pretty nice model.

TYCO Lighted Factory building (#940)

I do like how it represents a more contemporary (1960s-1970s) factory. When I got it, the bulb was burnt out, but I replaced it and it works really well.

Looks great! Besides the fact that it looks like it could light up the whole galaxy. Just joking of course.

I have always liked the lighted building accessories that Tyco produced, the only problem with them is that the walls allow light to pass through them. Has anyone tried to correct this problem by painting the interior walls black or something?

Tinfoil would probably work well for this. It won't bleed light and will actually reflect light within the structure giving it a well-lit appearance (rather than just looking like a single bulb). I've used this trick in diesel engines to prevent light from bleeding through the nose and cab roof. Cheap and effective!

I've done that with a few illuminated structures. When I got my Life-Like flashing light storage tank, the whole tank would blink on and off instead of just the red light on top, but some black paint inside the tank fixed that problem for the most part.
