A new shot of old stuff, this "set" is a collection of five vintage Life Like circus cars my sister, and honorary Tycohead, sent me from Florida. She picked them off ebay one at a time. The head end power is a Proto 2000 piece that went from analog Pennsylvania to DCC National de Mexico and now probably something else. Like I've said, I am getting away from Tyco and Mantua as head end power due to reliability issues like split drive gears and such. The cars themselves carry additional weight of 7 pennies each over each truck, but it appears I will have to increase my investment. The wheels roll stiffly because of the brass wipers that illuminate the interiors and derailments happen often on curves, turnouts. Always a challenge: I could fill them with lead, but then nothing short of a Big Boy triple header, or quartet of DD-40X's would be able to haul them.

Cute sets so far. I improvised this next one as a Burlington freight set.

I can't believe you got that set for so cheap. Especially if the engine runs.

Yep. That's what it is. I know that because the wheels looks identical to the Tyco sound cars and I believe Microbusss mentioned that in another thread.

yes but skinnier & run on the center rail
IF you has a problem with the sound use a thick rubber band around the wheel

[/quote]Also, that engine looks like it was made in the dark age of Lionel. In fact, I think they're still in their dark age. They've been in it since the 1970's.Again, cool set for the price though.

Then find a Lionel Thomas face and glue it to the front of the locomotive and boom! You've got yourself an American Thomas The Tank Engine character! Just kidding of course.

My SOTW is this New Bright set based on the movie It's A Wonderful Life. It was made to go with the Hawthorn Village Christmas buildings. I have repainted the train to look more like a Nickel plate Road set and some of you might get the joke because it was posted in another thread

A mediocre set made for a brilliant movie. Thanks for showing us what you did to it.I'm sure it looks much better than it was originally.

I have to agree to that comment. It would look ugly.
