Let's all remember the decent products that they have made over the years while listening to the song below. This is actually one of my favorite songs because it's so powerful and it's so amazing that it's really hard to describe.
-Steve

Model Power was hit or miss IMO. Some of there older rereleased kits were a big over priced IMO. Still they did maje lighting kits and other things at fairly reasonable prices.
I am sure that stuff will he available for years at shows so I'm not worried much.

Come on. They actually made some decent building kits. Plus, they also own the Mantua lineup now.

I bought a Model Power Amtrak Hustler type switcher two years back. Upon taking it out of the box, a wheel fell off. After fixing that I put it on the track to discover the headlight was burned out. So much for quality control. I won't miss them....

I have a pair of MOdel Power E7 units, and those chassis's are Da Bomb. They're built as well as an Athearn, and run as smoothly too. I was impressed when I ran them. I'd bought a lot of E7 shells at a show, and it took me awhile to figure out what they fit, then when I acquired the MP E7's, I was surprised at how nicely they were made. While some of the smaller engines may not be as nice, these brutes seem to be built stoutly. Model Power also had the rights to the Marx rolling stock, I'd ordered replacement trucks for some of my vintage Marx cars, once I found out I could. While they may have been hit and miss on quality, any model train manufacturer out of business is one less source we have to use. Hopefully MRC will keep it going, and I may see if I can order any more of those Marx trucks, just in case. :)

That's the way I see it. If Model Power dies, it impacts the hobby in general just like if any other model railroad company died off, big or small, good quality or bad quality. It all impacts our hobby in some way.
