Could be... either that or a Presidents Choice set. Wasn't MB Klein blowing those circus sets out for something like $30 back then?
Chops, I love the Chicago & Alton scheme. Nice cinder path, btw.

Mucking around in El Paso Model Rail Club's back cabinet, found about 14 of these blue custom painted coaches for El Paso Del Norte Railroad. They date back to the mid 1970's. About half of them were in ready to run shape, so I hooked them up to the Tyco Sound Car and the Mantua Pacific and fired her up. Ran beautifully (see Loose Ends: Railroader Form, pg. 5) until I came down a grade with too much throttle. Photographed today, Sunday.

Uh, please do not tell anyone in El Paso what you saw in Loose Ends. I'm the only Tyco Head in the bunch, anyway.

A little bit of a rerun with the locomotives. After I got the Athearn Alco PA at the last train show I found a matching unpowered PB on ebay that was meant to be with it - they are numbered 5750 and 5750B. I painted the silver trucks black as well as the bottom skirting over the fuel tanks, as all the pictures I could find of PRR PA/Pb units were painted that way. The cars are Rivarossi. Believe it or not, the combine and the coach were in a junk bag at an antique store in Hinton, WV, just as they are but missing trucks. The heavyweight trucks on the baggage care probably aren't prototypical but I like the look I may add one or two more cars to the set in the future but that would be enough.

Nice sets. I dig the end of car detail on the Chicago and Alton observation car.

Re-run that set anytime. A striking photograph. Is that your layout? My great grandfather worked on PRR 40 years. Almost got his head crushed during the link-and-pin era, between two box cars, but lived to tell the tale.

That's a great Great Northern set Ken - who is the manufacturer? And...is the bottom car a diner? Have not seen that configuration before.
