I got these at the show:

The "Q" caboose is to go with the Mantua/Tyco Burlington GP20 I got from davefromMD. The RI was sort of an impulse buy. The other stuff I got I posted in my "Slippery Slope" thread since it was all part of that downward spiral.

Love the Rock Island flat Glenn ! Bought a pair of them not long ago on eBay. I have a third one missing a step.. This is one of those pieces that just caught my attention one day that I just had to buy.

Walt, it was your own recent search for an RI flat that inspired me to get this one. Shortly after you posted you were looking for one, I found a shell (I guess that's what you'd call it) for one in a junk box at a show and considered getting it since I already had a Mantua metal chassis I could mount it on. I passed on it and later regretted it, so when I found this one, I got it. (Thanks a lot!) The problem is, if I happen to come across that shell again, I'll probably get it too!

Glad you found one, Glenn...they don't seem to be real common. IF you like to work on these cars I would send you my third one. I was thinking it had a broken stirrup but it's not. It has some glue inside where the load rides. A nice looking car other than that. Need to look for it to make sure my info stands...

Walt, I do appreciate that offer, but with the RI shell I mentioned, it's more a matter of giving the car back its dignity than a desire to collect, if that makes any sense.

Nice Burlington caboose there, gmoney! For some reason I love the design of the Tyco streamlined caboose. They just look cool although I haven't gotten one yet but never say never.

Thanks, glad you like the 'boose, Stephen. It still needs a good cleaning. That's its good side; the other side is spattered with something brown. Hope it comes off! And they ain't hard to find, especially if you aren't picky about roadname.

That CB&Q caboose is very similar to a real one that exists at Illinois Railway Museum:

Thanks JNXT 7707 - I have most of the other Athearn hoppers like this - i really miss the blue box kits -don't care for the over detailed ready to run that costs a fortune now a days- i mean no one is going to see all that detail unless your entering in photo contests or have binocular eyes
