I just won a SD24 on the bay in UP. It runs nicely since I cleaned it and put a new traction tire on it. You probably covered this I didn't reread the postings but it is lighted at both ends in all directions, sweet! Minor handrail trouble that most will overlook. But both plows or bottoms of the pilots are missing, the rest of the shell is good, but dirty. This is a nice diversion from my Alcos. I noticed GiC's Chessie, posted elsewhere, is missing a plow and so is the one RG in the Collector's site. This seems to be a common affliction for copies the SD24 to have broken or missing plows? I wonder how many of us have examples like this? [?]

Bob, Tony C's Tyco SD24 page says that the plow/pilot was altered whan the trucks were changed to the C630 type. It appears to have caused clearance problems. I take it yours has or is supposed to have the C630 style trucks. That assumes that your example wasn't actually broken at some point.

Mike, Does the rear pilot, on the top GR SD-24 on the collector's site, look to be lower and with a plow. It looks as it there is something below the coupler. Mine has the typical EMD trucks. You have an interesting point. [^]

Maybe this will help you out alittle Bob. I dont have any extra SD sideframes like you were asking for. I only found one for a C630 and a Shark.I do have a complete Comin around the mountain SD24 you can have with everything intact , the paint is alittle messed up though....it would be a decent parts engine.

I don't have a one track mind. It depends on the turn-out. "I love your catenary!" Is that a power-trip or just another pick-up line?
