Post your favorite game having to do with trains! Mine is Trainz Mac and Railroad Tycoon 3. Here's both.

By the way, it doesn't have to be video games. It can also be board games and real life games.

-Steve

"A lot of modellers out there who go to these train shows see broken HO stuff and go, 'This is useless' when, in reality, they can still be used for modeling whether it's as a prop on your layout or a cool project to make something old new again."

When I was growing up we'd walk to the tracks (3 miles, uphill, both ways) and play touch the headlight.

Just kidding, of course, but my dad and his friends had an amusement almost as bad when they were kids. There was an electric line called the CA&E that had third rails right down at ground level and kids would throw a piece of barbed wire across the third rail and the running rail. It would light up the whole sky burning up. One of his friends looked right at it and spent the next half hour blind and frightened. Another thought that if a wire was good, a steel fence post would be fabulous. It did not light up the sky. It just tripped a breaker and shut down that part of the railroad.

If any parents had found out, I think they'd have all been grounded for life (no pun intended).

My grandpa did something pretty bad on the railway as a kid as well. What he did was he got on one of those handrail cars and rode on it until a railroad worker caught him. That was when he lived in Chicago when he was a kid. He also used to talk with actual hobos by the tracks and watch the big steam engines puff by and the railroad was only a few blocks from his home. The railroad that I live close to is by the downtown area and I live pretty much on the other side of my town so I don't get to see much railroad action except when I'm down there.

Here's a Youtube video of some game play of Railroad Tycoon 3. It from one of those gaming channels on Youtube.Really good gameplay footage though.

I posted this just in case you were wondering what the heck Railroad Tycoon 3 is like. This game helped me get interested in trains. Without it, I probably would not be into model trains at all.

You must really be a big fan of Lionel.Have you played the Railroad Tycoon games cause they are better overall compared to Sid Meier's Railroads. At least so I've heard.Whatever.And you have all the Sim City games?Sorry about that, if you look in my profile, you'll see that I like trains, diecast cars, and video games. Those are my biggest interest.

You just have to love the cover art. Not everyone would have thought to include the UFO abducting cattle in the background. Now, that's attention to detail!

Hi All,

My favorite would have to be the Trainz games. I think what I like most about them is the ability to make your own working rolling stock and engines. I also like making scenery objects like buildings and houses and autos.

You can actually steal a train in GTA? (I've never played any of them so that explains why I don't already know that.)
