Hey all,
I'm looking for Super 630 Phase I Locos with Rivarossi drives. I have a couple (SF and ICG) but I'm looking for the D&H. I also heard there was a Chessie Phase I out there, even though the cataloge never indicated one was available.
Let me know if they exist...if you have one and if it might be for sale...
Thanks!

i'll be getting one next Saturday at the Greenberg train show at Edison Nov 29 2014. Just it is undecorated with a black body. I'll be working a table with some fiends. One of them will be bringing it to me. frank

So Tyco made a Super 630 with a Rivarossi drive? That's truly bizarre. Gotta find one of these!

I'd love to find a Rivarossi drive Super 630! Not sure how I missed that part when I first read through that article 2 weeks ago... When they went to PT, they shot themselves in the foot!

quote: Huh. Interesting read, thank you. And about that, why didn't Tyco stick with the motor they had originally for these things? They're so much better than the Power Torque motors.

Cost. Had to be cost. TYCO was/is an entry level model railroad company The Rivarossi drive probably was too expensive. Just my guess. I really like the prototypical trucks of the Riva. drive units. I think someone on this forum also remotored one of these.

You will find the following in the PowerTorque patent application:
"It is, therefore, an important object of the present invention to provide a unique and highly improved traction system for model vehicles, such as model railroad locomotives, which is well adapted to effect substantial savings in manufacturing costs, both in the production of component parts and in their assembly."
I do, however, question the claim of providing a highly improved traction system!
