i have a couple of presley bachmann f series locos and need some black plastic horns,tried spraying other colours does not look right,anyone able to help ken

right horns eric,but wrong colour,i have tried painting them it peels to easy,and want the original black ones,am even prepared to buy 2 shells for them ,thanks anyway ken

I don't know the name of the stuff (and it would probably not be the same brand there, anyway), but there is primer made for painting plastic bumper covers. It may be that an auto parts store would have the means to make paint stick to slippery soft plastic.

hi scsshaggy my point is i like items to be original,for a bit of plastic costing 1 cent to make rather it was as it left factory,but thanks for heads up on ken

Sounds like you are using a water-based paint. That will never stick to plastic. Try using a solvent-based paint like Testors flat black.

Ken,
I have a boat load of Bachmann FT units and will need to replace their horns. If you look real hard at the stock horns, they will fall off. I like their single point mounting, but they beak so easy. I may try the Atlas Plastic horns for the GP unit and see how they work. If that is not a solution, I will clean up and use Athearn horns. Most pictures I have studied of F units have 2 point horn mountings.
