I had one that was a Ford Maverick. I may still have it, somewhere, but I don't know for sure.

Hi Walt,

I had a bunch of these as a kid. They were a lot of fun.

Thanks for sharing.

I think I may still have parts to an orange and purple Ford and a blue and green Nomad. And black ramps for jumping at each other. When they hit, they blew apart!

One of my favorite toys as a kid.

Mytyco, these were fun in their day. I had a maroon Laker and a ramped set as 59chevy mentioned... Shaggy has the Maverick and MicroBen has something I've never seen...

Hi Walt,

The maroon Laker you had, was it the gas station car? The Laker is one I did not have.

If we only knew that we would miss our toys when we got older huh.

Thanks for sharing.

My tyco, my laker was regular size SSP, not the mini Citgo one. Yes we sure miss the old toys! That's what sparked my reliving the Tyco train era again!!.

Thanks for the Smash Up Derby link 59chevyl

My friend across the street got the Laker aron '71, and later a Super Stocker. I got the Smash Up Derby set for Christmas the year it came out and loved it. I tried to keep track of all the breakaway parts, but ultimately they got lost.

I had and sold a VW Bug, a Chevy-ish pickup, and the '57 Nomad out of the smash up set, some of my summer swap meet stock, carried them around for a long time though. The VW was pretty well complete, as was the pickup.

I had one of those, but I don't remember which one. It was one of my favorite toys, but it disappeared , not sure if Mom wasn't happy with me running it into things, but after a year or so I don't remember having it anymore.
