I have searched every catalog I have, 1960-1974, and cannot locate a set with this ID. It's a very large Life/Look box and I am very curious as to it's original contents, vintage of, and point of sale I.E. Sears, JC Penneys, Montgomery Wards, etc. The identification numbers were found on the usual sticker on the end of the box. Can anyone shed some insight on this?

In the Redbox era the first two numbers were the year the set was made. That means your set was made in 1969. I had a look through the '69 catalog on HOseeker but didn't see it either. Your set was probably one of the variations that came with a transformer/track.

Yes, the usual interpretation of these numbers would indicate that. But, I've got a set that is numbered 7583 that would indicate a set of 1975 vintage but is obviously of late red box era production! (See Attached Photo)

The "M" in the number indicates something in particular that I've heard the explanation for elsewhere in the forum community, but the meaning escapes me at this time! I do know that as Tyco got into the mid-70's, the numbering system became less organized. RE: My 1975 "Spirit of America" set is numbered '7320', as shown in the 1975 catalog, but this was the first year of production for this set! It's alot of the fun just trying to figure out the anomalies and piecing together the histories of these un-cataloged sets!

Your set does not appear in the Sears Christmas Wishbook or the Montgomery Ward Christmas Catalog for 1969. The "M" is found in catalog numbers of Tyco sets that are in the Wards Christmas Catalog of 1969. Examples: T21605M and T21600M

My guess, Your set was sold in store by Wards in 1969.

Thank you for taking your time to research this! In the meantime I've acquired another uncataloged set; #T6883. Although I cannot find it in 1968 catalog, it's contents are consistent with set #T6830 found in the catalog. The 17 piece trestle set is not present and there are left and right remote switches of correct vintage along with the trackage, but you never know what might have been added or go missing over 40 some years! Thanks Guys!
