Well back from the show, picked up a few cool items but kind of disappointed with the show overall - which is rare for me. Although it was a HUGE show, half of it was taken up with train layouts and a ride for the kids. And did I mention $5 to park and $7 per person to get in (so $19 just to get us in the door). And of the vendor area, a good third was hobby shops that although had good selections, also brought their hobby shop prices with them
There were a couple of small vendors though with interesting stuff that had decent prices, but definitely a minority. Lots of O scale stuff if you're into that and I saw more N scale then usual too.
But I gotta say I have had my fill of $200+ locomotives. and I think I may pass on any more Great Train Expos.

Well Jerry, there is one more thing that we have in common; you too think that the Columbus train show is a waste. $20 to get in the door and look at overpriced train stuff while you dodge screaming kids and strollers.

There is a good train show the first Sunday in December and April. It is at the Clark County (Springfield, Ohio) fairgrounds. I always do well there.

I hope that you waved as you went past me on your way to Columbus this morning. I live about 20 minutes south of that location.

Randy you pretty much said it all screaming kids and strollers were the sight of the day!

I wondered if you saw me waving

Jerry, what route did you take to the show? Did you come up 23?

Randy - we take US 33 to Columbus, since we are a bit north of Charleston off I-77. Takes about 3 hours but not a bad drive, never any traffic to speak of. Plus I always like to take a look at Nelsonville

Well, I would have been a little too far east of you to wave at. But you went through Lancaster; that's where Walt is.

Wow...Lancaster? I'm around there every once in a while, we have friends there and usually visit when we go to the cabin over in Hocking Hills. Small world!

Yes, Randy, Jerry was quite close as he went thru Lancaster! Our home is actually now a tad west of Zanesville, but as it stands I still spend most of my time in Lancaster.. Sadly, I didn't see Jerry's post about the Columbus show until after Church this morning... By then I knew I was too late...

OK Walt, I will have to note that your new home has gone a little further east of where I thought you lived. You and Jerry and I should try to meet up when he is here sometime and talk about trains.

Also, glad to hear that you made it to church yesterday. I had to use a sick day and stayed home. The only place I have been in 2 weeks is to the doctor's office.

hey Randy I would really enjoy meeting you and walt - and I'm sure he would bring along one or two of his many original boxed and sealed buildings that I could drool over in person

Randy I have been battling some kind of head/chest/sinus thing since Christmas - but then again I always do. Don't think there has been a Christmas/New Year's that I can remember that I didn't come down with something and spend the next month or two getting rid of. Hope you get feeling better real soon, although I see another arctic blast is coming our way this week so no chance of much fresh air and sunshine.

Microben, I check the forum every day too - but I think it's part of my OCD

I too would like to meet Randy & Jerry! My Zanesville home is only 35 minutes for my Lancaster address. We'll have to make that happen.

I see several health issues on here and hate to see the members have bad days. I had not been to a doctor in 39 years until late October, when I went for a complete physical. Somehow, my cholesterol was lower than a normal reading. No sign of diabetes or anything. EKG fine, bloodwork fine. Hard to beLIEve from my great diet of two 2 Litre Pepsi's per day and all the junk food and red meat, pork grease etc... Waiting two weeks for the results was scary!
