in the 1800s the lner built its first london terminus,a very unpretentious building on the outside, not like most railroads who went over the top,photo1,then they added bits on in the 20s,photo 2,in the 70s they demolished the old add ons and replaced with new, photo 3,then they demolished all the add ons, photo 4,as they realised it looked better without it all, what do you think ken

I Ken the opposite is done here. Many of the grand old stations were taken down due to the very high taxes leveled on the railroads on them. Penn Station in new york city is a good example of this. Stupid action was taken.

The structure looks better the way it was originally built, without all the crap added on.

Looking at the first and last pictures, I finally see the meaning of: "the more things change, the more they remain the same."

When I look at the pic I think the thing they need to put back onto the station is LNER & King's Cross signs

It has a much cleaner look as originally built. Very attractive as it now stands.

Was a shame about the original Pennsylvania Station in New York City.
However fifty five years later there is a rebirth happening right now.

Named the Moynihan Train Hall at Penn Station.
