Hey group,
I thought I'd get on the forums a bit to let all know where I've been and why I've been gone BEFORE I make my rounds of the forums....

First off, as all knows, OR most, I undergone open heart surgery last April, and have been recovering from that time on a quadruple bypass.....

WELL I haven't been here in a few days over a week actually.....Because, due to some on going issues healthwise, I have encountered some leg tiring (spelling) that when on my feet for a bit of time, carrying objects, or walking what to me seems not much more then a hald decent walk, my legs tire out like I can't even explain, not cause any sort of fatigue or pain, just simply feel as if they can't go much further!

So, at my last check up to my regular care doctor, I mentioned this to him, with a bit more explaination of how it goes and how long it lasts, etc....At the end of my visit to him, he told me we were going to schdule a "Stress Test" which as I'm sure you all know, having gone though what I have, I thought OK, I know what this is, and don't see why, this is going to prove anything, (BUT it gets better) I learned something new! There's more then one type of "Stress Test"!!!!

So, I get a call that evening from my doctor and the Stress Test part of the Cardiovasular division of the hospital, that this test, was to be done, this past Wednesday. Not knowing any differance I went in expecting a regular ole run on a treadmill....WELL, I didn't know they were going to put an IV in my arm, inject me with Nuclear crap....and the test itself, take half a day to be completed!

To get better this "Stress Test" is known as a "Nuclear Stress Test" the stuff they injected into my viens makes them show up on a Cat Scan type machine, that shows ANY and EVERY narrowing of my arteries, within....About 1PM in the afternoon, I'm left, to go home....

That evening my doctor calls me back with the results.....Turns out, my quadruple bypass, didn't fully work! This "tiring of the legs" is caused by a or 2 "narrowings" found with this test. Turns out, what it is is "scar tissue" that had built up on the vien "joints" in the surgery.......It was un-clear on this phone call so this comming week, I plan to talk to the local Cardiologist, and my Specialty "Cardiologist" where the surgery took place....to get 2 consensus of info. on what either of them would venture to say in regards of treatment.

I'm sorry that its this way its been greatly taking a bit of time from my hobbies and even online as its a worry now that I thought as all but over. I'm not dying, mind you, I'm merely undergoing some research from these doctors as I want to see, if and what I have to go through to make this right.....As I can tell everyone as I told my Wife, I do NOT plan to be "re-opened" for another "open Heart Surgery" just to then lead into a 3rd one, possibly down the road, So, I guess what I'm saying is this, IF they tell me, it can be repaired? by a Stent, or even 2, OK, I'm good with that, IF they tell me that I have to go through open heart AGAIN, I'm going to pass, I am not being opened and layed up for a second year, in a row....As much as I hate to say this, only God himself can change my mind at this point. I told a few of you in PMs in the beginning after the first surgery it wasn't for whimps, let me tell ya, I don't know how well I'd "weather" a second trip into hell, so close to the last one.....a few years down the line from now, might be a different story....BUT, not as close as it is, its not even a year ago that it was done!!!! AND I have been told, I'm still not 100% healed from the first surgery so.....

So, as you all that read this, I thank all of you for understanding and being kind, and sincere....It has been a long hard road, and its still not over!

~John

Thanks Walt, what can I say? you know I'll have to see just "what I'm about" if and when the time comes......Something other then me, has to give here.

I'm trying to not take it real serious till I actually talk with my Cardiac Surgeon and my Cardiologist that done the surgery....The local Cardiologist is just a "make shift" to get/have a second opinion.

I'm still active as much as I can be but over done. so.....BUT, I'm careful as it isn't anything to mess with as it could wind me up with a heart attack and that's not something I've had and do not want!

Scar tissue can't really be blamed on the doctor, that is probably just a hazard of surgery. I'm sure the test was more than you wanted, but at least it identified a problem that is probably correctable ( to what invasiveness is up to the doctors I guess ).

Concentrate on getting well, and I"m sure you'll be back at it again, if not soon, then when you can. We'll all cheer for ya to recover quickly!

Thanks everyone! Yeah the scar tissue isn't from the doctors....It was how I healed up from the vessel location of the by-passes. So, the whole thing is going to take some thinking (on my part) and what I'm able, or feel up too. Currently, I feel OK, I have no real issues besides the legs tiring out, but other then that I feel pretty good I must say!

As for the "repair" or fix, of this, I have yet to talk to the doctors on it.....I seem to have a pretty good team of them so, I'm sure one of them will be able to enlighten me on whats next.

One day at a time tho. that's the "speed" I'm in, or gear I should say..........

I don't blame you, getting unzipped once was one time more than I liked. hang in there and get better soon. Remember us New England Yankees are a tough bunch, pretty hard to kill off.

Sorry to hear this news John, but I was sure something was up. Hopefully they can use some stents to hold those restrictions open and get you going full throttle.

Make sure your doc is at least as good a repairman as you are (no kitbashing, tho)!
