Well, just barely a week into 2014, and I came across a great deal at my train shop job, boss got in a big lot of HO trains, and got it cheap, and boy howdy, were there some nice stuff! Lots of Roundhouse, some good Tyco and Mantua engines, and some Lima to round it all out. Talk about a kid in a candy store! A whole BOX of Roundhouse Barnum and Bailey trains and accessories, including the Roundhouse Climax loco with the B&B logo on it. He's going to sell it as a set. He had an 1880's set of American Freedom train, first time I've seen one with Old-Timer cars and saddle-tank engine before. Three passenger cars of Gorre and Daphetid railroad, with Mousebelly, Eagles Nest, and one other car. A bunch of small coal car and logging cars, like 20 footers? All Roundhouse. THEN, I got to the teasers ( Microbusss is gonna hate me! ). So, here's what I picked out to buy below :

To head up this consist, how about 3 F7's, one is a Super Power Athearn, the other two are dummies. All these trains are MIB, probably never used.

Some nice pre-heavyweight passenger cars of the D&RGW, I've never seen these before. All mint, I got 4 of them.

Some smaller 34' Overton coaches, 4 of them, as kits.

This is an interesting Goose, not the one I'm familiar with, the front engine and cab are way different than the ones I'm used to seeing. Looks like a freight-only model. Anyone know if this is a pre-passenger unit? Did they do freight or passenger versions first? Non-powered kit.

Now here's a neat fantasy piece, an F40 in Burlington green. Never existed. Soon as I saw it, I knew I wanted it! GIMME!!! LOL! My boss thinks I'm nuts, he knew it wasn't prototypical, but I love BN green, so I had to get this one.
Well, that's all the teasers I have to waggle under Ben's nose for now. NO, you won't get these, Ben, maybe in my Will. I'll post some others under Tyco Motive power shortly. Feel free to add to the Gimme-monster tease post for 2014. The 2013 post went rather well, too.
Jerry in VA ( and FAR from Scottsbluff, NE ) heh heh heh....

This was taken in 2007 just after a rebuild I saw it during Goose Fest when 6 of the 7 were there The only one that didn't show was the Goose from Knotts Berry Farm!

As I understand it, the geese were built as an inexpensive way to fulfill mail contracts. In typical practice for a goose, the rear part that looks like a boxcar would contain mail and express. The cab part with windows would carry a few passengers. The real No.2 has a touring car body ahead of the boxcar looking part. Passenger space is fairly limited, but could carry 4 passengers.

That Roundhouse deal isn't a shake the box kit, it's a kitbasher series. There should be an old-time box car or reefer shell, a Boxcab diesel shell, and some other pieces in there and it's up to you to cut and fit and make it look kind of like an RGS Goose.
