I got my son a Tyco HO train and the motor turns but the gear that drives the wheels is missing. I got the train off EBAY and the person know nothing about the train and sold it as is. I am hoping that someone may have a gear so my son can use his train.
Thank you all.

All things considered, you may be best off buying another loco off E-bay and using this one as a dummy, and spare parts. Finding and installing a gear will probably cost as much, and take a lot of time. You can always take it by a hobby shop for repairs. This time of year is too cold for much outside play, so I expect he would like to play with the trains.

I have parts for Tyco. First, you need to take a sharp, in-focus close-up of the motor, so I know which gear ( the large one, or the tiny one? I'm assuming PT motor here ). I can mail you a gear in a regular envelope so it won't cost much. Also, if it IS a PT motor, is the tiny gear stripped? If so, it'll ruin the new big gear quickly. So that's why it needs to be examined closely. Those are aluminum, not plastic, I think. Or some alloy. Anyway, get me some GOOD , CLOSE UP pictures of it, and examine the remaining gears to be sure they're not damaged. We'll go from there.
