Definitely a nice piece as it stands. Funny the third link shows the chassis ribs but I don't see them on the other two. Would be tempted to paint the roof though

like i said in reply pictures 1-8 are for this kit,the last 2 showing ribs are the metal kits, regards painting the roof, negative, the black parts are plastic,if i paint roof you will not notice them,as is could place on layout, and it looks like repairs are being carried out ken

I've been doing that a bit lately myself...just enough to get them running, but not so much to hide what they are or what they are made of. The hobby's latest offerings have a sterile air about them in their mechanical and detailed perfection that these old girls just put to shame...

| I've taken a liking to this type of model, too, like the details. I have 2 reefers I'm fixing, need the ice hatches, brake handles, etc. I saw some die cast metal, but can't find the site again.....not crazy about using plastic if die cast is available. Even thinking of saving wooden stir sticks for walkways....finding the correct brake parts is tough for me, not familiar with terminology....

Due to the kind of trucks they where mounted directly to the bottom! not shure about the fishbelly underframe, seems to be a later addition! - Erich
