I picked up this pair of sharks recently and was really surprised when I tried to run them. It seems that one of them had an early version of a sound system with an electronic prime mover including a synthetic turbo whine!

Picky, picky, picky. The best thing is, you're here! Welcome, and I can't wait to see what you have.
I'm in S scale, myself, but reading this list got me interested in Mantua/Tyco and brings back memories of my first HO trains, which were, what else, Mantua.

Welcome Steven!
One other thing about uploading photos: Watch your file sizes; the uploader doesn't like really large files. Whenever I upload images from my iphone (which is every time!), I crop the pics as tightly as possible and usually succeed in uploading them. Sometimes it takes a few tries, so don't immediately give up. You can also host images on other sites and link to them using "img" tags.

| This was my first post and I jumped the gun before I found the introduce yourself section. I was attempting to load some photos of my Tyco collection but was not having any luck. Thanks for the tips.

Huh, that's very interesting. There are other early versions of sound systems that were put on H0 scale steam engines where there was a little piece of plastic or something on an axle on the tender that would scrape against the metal piece that would make a sound that sounded like a steam engine puffing.

"A lot of modellers out there who go to these train shows see broken HO stuff and go, 'This is useless' when, in reality, they can still be used for modeling whether it's as a prop on your layout or a cool project to make something old new again."

| Interesting set, but what is the manufacture, looks to be AHM. As to posting to this Forum, it required the combined brains of my daughter, her computer geek boyfriend, and my Scottish luck in managing to hit the right icons accidentally. If anyone else is having trouble uploading your Tyco work to the Forum, please PM me and I will give you a very simple step by step, of which there are many steps, on how I managed to succeed after three months.

Back in the mid 1970's the LHS had an AHM F40 with sound. The owner's daughter was minding the store, than, and she ran it so I could hear the thing. It had a kind of turbocharger whine, but not much low rumble. It made a sound, like bebebebebebebe, that sort of felt good when it stopped.
