I have a tyco motor that has just started giving me a problem. It is the newer type with the gear wheels on the side of the motor. Well, the small pinion gear that turns the largest gear pops out just enough to not turn the large gear. It only take about five feet of running before it pops out. How can that be fixed? Otherwise the motor runs great. If a picture is need, I can post one.

Rotate the truck so the shaft shows going into the frame. Use a flash. On first glance, I would glue a brass plate on the frame, you seem to have room. This gives you a chance to align the gears before the glue sets. Also, you could put a bushing in the hole. Check the small gear, replace it if it's worn.

Remove the pinion (small gear) and drop it in alcohol or some other solvent to remove the lubricants, and degrease the motor shaft as well. Reinstall it, then use a very small drop of CA (I recommend Zap brand) on the outside of the pinion to hold it to the shaft. It shouldn't slip after that.

Good sharp pictures there, Tramp. No room for a plate, no need to bush if the gear is just slipping on the shaft when it warms up. Give the ca a try, degrease as mentioned by NickelPlate.

NickelPlate759, I did what you said. I took the pinion gear off, cleaned it with alcohol than cleaned the shaft with alcohol, reassembled. Than I put a drop on CA glue to hold the pinion gear on, let set over night and that worked. Will see in the long run if that holds up. Cross your fingers. Thanks for the help.

It should work. I had trouble getting it to hold as a kid, but I didn't do the degreasing part.
