I came across this photo today while looking at an 1885 guide to Colorado. I hope you can see (despite the quality of the scan) that this page from that guide book shows two photos of the same street four years apart; the top photo in 1881 and the bottom photo in 1885. The striking difference is the manicured street. Take note of the wooden pedestrian crosswalks and how well the street itself is groomed.
