I found a box of Tyco and other, last handled in 1976. Not much good stuff here. Found in storage area of the house we moved from ... This was pieces from my 1970s layout.

A little dismal looking at first glance, but hopefully you can rescue/salvage some things out of it. The ATSF Shock Control boxcar, CB&Q hopper, ATSF tender and the piggyback trailer look like immediate candidates

Well guys, this stuff is pretty used up. It has been kept for years but not always in dry or warm places. I would like to have one of these pieces on my upcoming layout. I haven't washed any of it yet. But paint damage, scrapes, broken steps etc pretty much leaves this stuff as ruins from my childhood layout. I was happy to see my old yellow Life Like Circus flat car, thats printed on the side of it...

JNXT, it would be nice to get some of these back in order. The piggyback trailer is a Mini Lindy along with the mail carrier with it.

Microben, I'm into gathering pieces in better condition. But I will keep this box of old trains around..

Jerry, the Mini Lindy cars & trucks were always a favorite of mine and their size is a pretty good fit on the HO layout.

I like their detail, compared to some of the vehicles I have on my layout. A good time frame for it too. And looking through some of the ebay stuff, I found out I did have a Min-Lindy at one time, just didn't know what it was.

Walt, whatever you do, keep something for your new layout. I am in S scale, and spent hours digging through a garbage dump where I knew my old AF stuff had ended up after my little brother had "modified" it beyond redemption because I wanted to find one of the freight cars in that original set to run on my layout. I neveer did, and have plenty of like cars nowadays, but there would have been some sort of pride to have one of the Originals

Incidentally, Walt, Simple Green and a toothbrush is an excellent degreaser, and STP gasoline additive will work on metal, and rail, if you use metal wheels

JNXT 7707 - I knew about mini-Lindys since I found a GMC bus with Kiddie Kollege on it but it had no wheels! untill I found a yellow one with wheels!
So I used the yellow bus wheels for my Kiddie Kollege bus
Plus we had a preschool years ago like that & I went there
I do look for those at train & toy shows & still looking for MOAR!

Hey, String Bob ! I will certainly have to find something out of my scrap box, to reuse on my upcoming layout... Had been thinking about what piece. Imagine a piece being on my layout nearly 40 years ago, and again today!

Ben & Jerry (isn't that an ice cream brand?). The Mini Lindy's are common on eBay!

I've never seen the Mini-Lindy line before. The details are very nice; they just need some paint and shadowing/weathering to bring them out.

Yes the Mini Lindy cars and trucks are pretty good little kits. I found another one of my old Lindys, a blue corvette that's not complete... I had a bunch of them in the 70s...
