I don't see many of these younger old die-cast metal RF-16 "B" units. I have several of the earlier versions without roof vents where the trucks mounted to a separate plate that was then screwed to the shell; I wonder what year this example was produced.
Interesting that this shell has truck mounting with different spacing; narrower in the front than in the rear. Was front drive an available option?

Was anything mounted in those two little holes at the front top?

waw47, Thanks for the link. I had seen that thread and it seems my shell was made between 1956 & 1960. I am wondering if there are any tell-tale manufacture signs to suggest a particular year. Open bottom stirrups suggest 1956-57?
EM-1, 8 wheel drive helps alot. I have a dual powered die-cast metal Mantua that pulls well while it only draws a few amps.

Note the upper stirrups of the "B" are open in yours, closed in my "B".
I would like to see other folks pictures of "younger" shark B-units.

I notice both open and closed upper steps on both the A and B units in the various pictures. Is it intentional, or just casting flash?

You know.....You guys ask, and I can't remember....... (YES, a lot of things) BUT, anyway the "open" stirrups....If I removed the backing, OR if it was done, already! Reason I say this is I'm known for doing such to make the unit a bit more detailed......
This type thing as all knows, me, knows that custom painting these will warrant ALL the possible factory used details, but "enhanced" BEFORE the painting process, other details, to be added AFTER the decals are on the model. So, that being said, opening those steps up, is a great addition to the model to look that much more realistic. With little work to accomplish it.
I have others, I'll have to see what I all have... as far as "Sharks" are concerned. Does the whole posting have to be Mantua, or TYCO models? OR ANY RF-16 A or RF-16 B units from Baldwin? Even DF44-1600's as well, as the late models were also "little" Sharks!
