and............. I model at least ONE of them! I want a Varney 4-6-2 or 4-6-4 brass shell to make the one I've got, complete......The "Royal Blue"
I wouldn't mind having both models to "re- model" that era!!!!!!

The name is on the cars in the photo. The train was the Coronation. The streamline class was also Coronation. Ken told me. And it is written on the box. If you remove the streamlining it is the same as a Dutchess class. The Coronation locos without streamlining all have names City of whichever City. I have the City of Sheffield and City of Nottingham. I have a Dutchass class loco also and it is identical in everything to the Corronation . A very mixed up class of locomotives. frank

How about getting a "modern" photo of this bridge from this same angle, and posting it? Be fun to compare "then" and "now" photos.

Yes,CSX and the MARC commuter trains still use the viaduct daily. They were moving some trains today, traffic levels are definitely up.

Buss, The Thomas Viaduct was completed in 1835,and I believe the maximum speed is 25mph due to the curves in the area, and on the bridge.

The Thomas Viaduct spans the Patapsco River and Patapsco Valley between Relay and Elkridge, Maryland, USA. It was commissioned by the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad (B&O), built between July 4, 1833, and July 4, 1835, and named for Philip E. Thomas, the company's first president.
At its completion, the Thomas Viaduct was the largest bridge in the United States and the country's first multi-span masonry railroad bridge to be built on a curve. It remains the world's oldest multiple arched stone railroad bridge. In 1964, it was designated as a National Historic Landmark.
The viaduct is now owned and operated by CSX Transportation and still in use today, making it one of the oldest railroad bridges still in service.
