Nice 2-4-2, Ken. Not all of their castings were bad, though a significant percentage were.

I had almost gotten my hands on won, but I lost the bid. They made excellent turn of the century 2-8-0's, would love to get at lest 2 of them.

A nice Columbia type locomotive. A few different railroads bought them from Baldwin.

If you do buy one of these locos via Ebay or other shipping method I recommend that you ask the seller to please wrap the engine and tender in bubble wrap or other padding. Everyone that I have gotten that was left in that display box arrived with either broken tender trucks or some other broken area. The original box does not support the items well and they bounce around. Also look for warped frames on the Camelbacks and Atlantics.

Ken; do you guys have JB Weld "over there"? Those tender trucks look like good candidates for a little "dab".

Ken

Had to come back and look at that 2-4-2, plus the 4-6-0 camelback that I think is on this site. I have a recommendation for those defective tender tucks on the 2-4-2. You should be able to find a pair of tender trucks somewhere and mount them.I have seen them on a website called Greenway Products (type into a search engine). I have also seen Mantua/Tyco old time tender trucks offered on Ebay for the 4-6-0 and 4-8-0 old time engines that may work, as well. They are from the same era.

Well, I got to find that beautiful 4-6-0 photo again. It still reminds me of a New York, Ontario & Western engine of the same type. I wouldn't be happy with just one of those engines, though. I would have to qahve a whole fleet, but don't think I could live long enough to accumulate them

Ken

On another topic, you mentioned looking for s tyco General 4-4-0 headlight casting. Here is a link to an Ebay listing you may be interested in

http://www.ebay.com/itm/HO-SCALE-MANTUA-TYCO-4-4-0-GENERAL-LIGHT-/221323911179?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item3387eee00b

I tried to send you a PM, but apparently I'm not qualified, yet, because I haven't sent enough personal Emails yet. I'm not sure how I'm supposed to qualify if I can't send any, until I send a certain number. Anyway, hope the link works

Appears the 4-6-0 Camelbacks seem the most runied by poor casting material. Few of these appear in usable condition.

Picked up a decent condition ten wheeler Camelback today at auction but missing front truck. Other than that not bad and cast material is in good shape. I may have to join Aristocraft HO anonymous since I have about 15 or more of these cast Japan made locos. :-)

That's a real honey! I like consolidations, anyway, and its nice size and handsome proportions make for a neat little engine.
