My LOTW is a Cox GP9 for Big Pine Lumber Company. I repowered it with a Walthers GP9 mechanism.

Nice.
Funny that you mention the gp-9 walthers. I recently bought one in ATSF given the fact that they are cheap and I have had good luck with another one I had in Rio Grande colors. The ATSF one is loud, sputters and has other issues right out of the box. Time to take her part. I will post some photos.

Mine runs pretty well, although the single flywheel that it has is small and I'm not sure it does much good. I look forward to seeing what you find out. It might just be a mis-aligned shaft or gear.

My LOTW is a just-acquired project on Saturday, from my model train shop job. Junk box survivor, an old Varney diesel. Unfortunately, the zinc frame is cracking and disintegrating, I was trying to save the shell and the rear frame broke off when I was gently pulling it off. So far the frame is still intact enough to use, but I don't want to put the body back on and have it get broken. I may can grind the frame some to make it smaller so it won't hurt the shell for now. But The driveline looks to be in excellent shape, so if I can find another good original frame for it, it can be kept original. Even still has the original tube driveshaft unbroken in it! Which I will attempt to reproduce today at work on the bandsaw. I also fixed another Varney diesel like it, frame was black and not cracked, has slightly different trucks and a different driveshaft. Boss will probably sell it for $10, I may buy that one too. I like these old Varneys, they're noisy but have character. :)

Yesterday my son visited with his family. A locomotive came back to the Bergen Point branch from the Saylorsburg PA branch of the CNJ. Back from a repaint and inspection came CNJ K1 class 4-8-0s #472. It is looking brand new. * It is seen here in front of the Berger Point station. * Iron Horse Models by Precision Scale Co.
edit PS. This Is a unique drive locomotive. With no power to this engine. When on the tracks , the drive will free wheel. when you move the loco, the wheels will turn freely. Apply power, and the gearing will engage, and the locomotive will move.

My LOTW offering for today is a walthers articulated M-190 from the AT&SF:
It is missing the roof and needs a new motor chassis, bot a very rare find!

Frank, That 4-8-0 is shexy!!!! NICE! I tell ya, your killin' me with all the dang Camelbacks tho! but all in good honest, jealousy!
WELL , again while I'm here,......

Scary part of this one? Its missing its tender, is flywheel drive Rossi, and will pull yer house.... at that SAME Yard sale, I got my COTW, this week, for guess what? A BUCK! The guy there told me it was missing parts, (I don't care) and that he didn't know if it ran it hasn't been run in 10 years) again, I didn't care.....brought home, to the shop we went on the test track, Runs GREAT! I will probably be keeping this one, in the factory condition, AFTER I replace the few missing parts, including the tender, but this one, is on the back burner for now!

Beautiful locomotives, all of them. Now, if I could just get my Bachmann 4-4-0 running! Also, I'm still here, by virtue of my XP equipped desktop computer. For some reason, I cannot log in on my Windows 7 laptop. Any suggestions?

RBNicholson,
I am presently logged in using my laptop with Windows 7. I once saw a WiFi network that I couldn't connect to but it would connect to XP. If your laptop just cannot get to the web at all, try a WiFi at the library or McDonalds. If you can get to the internet, but just not this board then I'm stumped, too.

Nelson, I have to agree with you on that Camelback of Franks. puts my LOTW to shame!
And yes. I picked that Rossi Cab Forwards up at a yard sale for a dollar....$1.00!!!!! Sadly, I have to say that's the "falling" thing again, it bites hard at times...... The guy offered it to me at that price, I'm surely NOT going to turn away!

I use a polarizing filter, too. Howefer, if I don't have one, many times shooting through glass at an angle will work, too. Note; I said "many times"!

I have the Rock Island version that Cox made. I'll upgrade it to a Walthers GP9 frame as well. It will run better and the fuel tank is part of the frame on Walthers (I have a Santa Fe warbonnet GP9 by Walthers). The fuel tank on the Rock has been superglued in place.

Very interesting. Years ago Miller Engineering put out a "bipolar" power truck for their Alco S-4. It also free-wheeled with nothing to stop it, so control was important. We learned this at the Fall "S" Fest in Milwaukee, WI, in 1978, when a Dayton F-3 bronze cast diesel (need I say it was HEAVY?) equipped with Miller power trucks pulled a Kadee drawbar on the head end of a long heavy train and shot down the track and derailing on the double track and T-boning my brass kit-built Alco RS-1. The operator felt real bad, but I told him, "Hey, I built it, I'm sure I can repair it!" 35 years later, the RS-1 still earns its keep on SHABBONA RR

I have a Fuji S9000, which looks like one of your cameras is, and it is probably my favorite camera, over my professional FinePix S-3 Pro. I use them interchangeably, but those Fuji lenses are nothing, if not SHARP! I used to photograph collector cars for a collector car magazine until health issues intervened. I hope to do it again someday, but will probably try to upgrade the lense on the S-3 to maybe a Nikon from the Tamron that's on it now. In the long term, if you want to upgrade an S-9000, consider an HS-10.

I was mistaken about the MP on that phone camera ad in National Geographic. I said it was like 100MP, but it's more like 40. Still . . .

Beautiful locomotives, all of them. Now, if I could just get my Bachmann 4-4-0 running! Also, I'm still here, by virtue of my XP equipped desktop computer. For some reason, I cannot log in on my Windows 7 laptop. Any suggestions?

I'm still playing with my Bachmann 4-4-0. Somewhere in these forums, I put out a call for a pair of Bachmann old time tender trucks. If anybody has any, or can pick up a pair at a train show, give me a PM. We don't have many trains shows around here, we're so far out in the woods we have to go towards town to hunt game! I guess I should post photos of some of my other acquisitions, just to keepmy feet in the water
