Another train shop purchase, the owner had this 12mm gauge item kicking around, and of course having an interest in the TT scale and gauge trains, I picked it up for $5. I think my first TT passenger car, most everything else I have is freight. No name on it anywhere. Pretty nice shell, chassis and couplers are crude though. Oh well, a small piece of TT history.

That looks like an HP products TT scale car. HP was a major manufacturer of American TT scale in the 1960's when it was supposed to become "the next big thing". But then N scale came out...

A friend of mine who passed away recently has left behind his layout, "The Bedford and Eastport". All of the rolling stock and the entire railroad is up for grabs for anyone who would be interested in figuring out how to get it out of the basement (it's partially built in sections).

It's a pity he didn't make it HO scale as it's a real nice layout. Ah well, I'm sure Ed's on to better things.

Yes, its narrower than HO. Might make a good narrow gauge HO item, though.

Well isn't "TT" scale, 1/8th to the foot? Where HO is 1:87th, "3.5MM" to the foot...

Interesting all you guys, and then to make that a narrow gauge HO that be interesting as a lot of narrow gauge stuff, wasn't standard factory made.....Thedn again, if it was narrow gauge, that would be that just the trucks were "narrow" and the body would remain....so you could use the trucks off this car, on a HO scale body..........

Um..... it's 1/100. basically 1/10th inch equals 1 foot was the original intent. Easy to calculate that way. Although I don't know if they made a ruler with gradients by 10's.

Jerry,
Tenths are a standard engineering standard and rulers can be found with little effort.

1/10" to the foot is 1/120. 1/8" to the foot is a lot closer to 1/100.
