A company in my office park building around the corner has been busy moving and packing last week, and of course trashing anything they didn't want to take along. I've picked up copious amounts of office supplies last week, as well as a Terrabyte Seagate external hard drive (works), a Dell Inspirion laptop ( needs HD but otherwise works). It's down to the dregs, and the trash trickled out today, but what a trickle! This afternoon, I headed out for my afternoon walk and stopped by the Big Green shopping bin of free stuff. Not much, a couple of small 2-foot high trash cans, a big thick book/manual inside one...I snagged them and lifted them out, began to throw the huge honkin' book back in, then read the cover....what th' ?! Car and Locomotive Cyclopedia???? I opened the book and it is an industrial catalog of railroading around 1984 ( publication date ), about an inch or so thick, about 7-8 lbs worth of everything from rolling stock specs to railroad advertisements by companies in the field of serving railroading. AWESOME! This will be some fine bedtime reading, what a wonderful time-capsule of interesting information. Industrial catalogs and such are not usually circulated to the common folk, and most don't know they exist. And to find one on probably the last clean-out effort that is related to railroading? what a stroke of luck! Here's a few pictures of what's inside. Pretty neat stuff.

Looks like there's an HO train in one of the middle pictures, and I wouldn't be surprised if that's not a Tyco IC diesel. Looks like it. I can't wait to dive into this book tonight.

What an awesome dig my friend! I'm a fellow dumpster diver myself! The G stuff I sent ya a while ago was bound for the landfill and I saved it!

Hey buss, keep grabbing those arm lights, and then hang them from your eaves to use them as blinking Christmas lights!

Doesn't help that there's no cord to connect them
