I am attempting to install a new motor in my Tyco Chattanooga 2-8-0 steam locomotive's tender. The problem is though, I need to remove the attached trucks (with pick-up wheels and a coupler on one of them.) There seems to be some kind of retaining clips I can't remove. Can anyone help provide assistance please?

I use needle nose pliers to pull them off or a small flat head screw driver. The proper term is e clip.
