Was wondering if anyone has ever seen a pre-built water treatment / sewer plant in HO scale. OR if anyone has ever scratch built a facility such as this. My 4 year old son is really getting into building layouts and enjoys the heavy pipes and intricacies of industrial style buildings. Any suggestions or tips are appreciated.

Well you could look into the Petroleum world..... A lot of piping and tanks with a bunch of Industrial type walkways and such.....A Refinery kit is offered by Walthers. With all sorts of piping, and tanks and all sorts of railroad related items to go with it, plus the auto "trucking" world as well! Which, Walthers makes all the terminals to go with that one refinery kit.... And in most cases, they can be kitbashed together as one kit from other brand makes of them.

I haven't seen it done in a model, but the San Francisco Belt RR used to deliver chlorine tank cars to a sewage treatment plant on the corner of Bay and Kearny streets. This is just a couple of blocks from Pier 39.

Here is a pic from MR April 1980 showing the loading platform.

The tracks are long gone, but the treatment plant is still there. Here is a Google map view. You can see the loading platform is still in place, and you can see tanks and other things crammed into that little yard.
