I visited the Virginia Transportation Museum in Roanoke Saturday and took a few pictures. I apologize for the poor lighting, it was overcast.

611 and 1218 were outside for a Lerro Productions photo shoot. Thankfully 611 can return to the rails if they raise 3.5 mill by October. Want more info? Go to http://fireup611.org/

John & Ben, I'm glad my amateur cell phone pics are appreciated. Thanks!
Hyde, Who is Lerro Productions and what are they producing with 611 and 1218?

Lerro Productions, if I am not mistaken, takes pictures of things like 611 and 1218 but, tries to make them look vintage with people and background in period correct attire. Interestingly, enough, the N&W railroad helps out by using one of their diesel locos to move the steamers around. Takes them down to the roundhouse turntable and such.

Ben, I have a picture of the trucks on that loco. They are Trainmaster trucks. I'll try to dig up the picture for you.

Looks like they've moved the locomotives around since I was there, the N&W Bicentennial was outside, and the J4 was inside. Still, good photos all.

What a great collection (though that poor GG1 needs a little love). I didn't know any of those rectifiers had been preserved, and that 630 just looks massive.

I got a bi centenial sitting on my shelf waiting for insperation, and I just got it. Oh yes, it is a high hood. As to the 630 trucks no 1130-1134 came with ALCO "vampire" trucks and 1135-1139 came with FAIRBANK MORSE ones. Doe's anyone have a blue that matches the 630. As FLOQUIL is going out of business I was wondering if someone has a formula or alternative?

Gmoney great photos, I live in Chesapeake, right besides Norfolk and Virginia beach and I have never been to the museum. After looking at these photos I know I am going to have to. Did they say if they were going to restore the GG1?

Which manufacturer that you need to match the blue too? The TYCO one? I'm not sure, Athearn is easy....

I do not know the GG-1's fate, but would love to see it restored myself. Like Nelson said, it's in need of a little love!

That FT B-unit looks like the original demo to the A-B-B-A set that came out in 1939. I believe the restored demo set includes a Nickle Plate A and B unit... The FT's... the first nails in the steam coffin.

I don't have a one track mind. It depends on the turn-out. "I love your catenary!" Is that a power-trip or just another pick-up line?

babuff, Take Testors Blue Sea Blue, in the little bottle and add a few drops of flat black to that to darken it (IF I'm thinking correctly of the shade your trying to "match") and, shake well....Few drops, about 3 total, just enough to darken that blue, I think the Testors number is 1172.
IF its that lighter "Medium" blue from Testors, That one, I'm not sure of! Got a picture of this blue? I got mixtures of all sorts of custom colors!

IIRC the restored FTs were ex-Southern. Nickel Plate never had any.
