I picked this up at a TAG sale. As the airplane car was bought out I considered it to be Lionel
Further more since there was a Lionel Power pack I suspected Lionel
Checked catalog 1958 and it matches
YET NOTHING says Lionel on any of it but the pack
Also included pics of other items I got from same sale the loco is from Japan the signal I have never seen before and does anyone reconize tbe price tagEdited by - thesiding on July 13 2013 6:36:05 PM

Diesels are made by Athearn. That steamer is a Sakai. " Heck with counting 'em rivets, TRAINS ARE FOR FUN! Not called the Mad Scientist for nothing either!"

I am aware of Athearn's short lived relationship w Lionel I have some pieces in the original boxes and everything I have has the L on it As shown the set matches thr catalog exactly both units are motorized and despite the colors the caboose is silver since I have a boxed one
The lot came with track as well and still have to go through that I do know Atlas Track was used frequently in sets regardcless of brand I am asking that is it possible that some products did not get the L stamp on them?

* It looks like the Lionel set and seems the have the L marking on all cars except the tank car which the photo is bad. The 2-6-2 steam engine is not Lionel . It is made by Sakai of Japan. It was sold as both Sakai and Champ. toptrain

Yes, that's all Lionel HO made by Athearn, and I can see the L logo on all of the pieces that should have it. The tank cars never had the logo, but given it's with the others it's safe to conclude it was sold as Lionel also.
