Ken,
I have been using computer "Power Supplies" to power trains since the mid-1990's! I take old computer systems and remove the power supplies out of them, you have a 12 volt and a 4 output, that can be wired together in parallel to add the 4 volt DC to 8 to 12 as needed. Then, all you need is a rectifier, and a Pot or a Reostat, (which I myself, like better) As the rheostat works much better and a finer control of speed! Then to add in a reversing switch and your good to go!

I use the 12 volt out put for train control, and the 4 volt out put in multiples for lighting and such......

I have yet to figure out how to wire them to produce AC for those Accessories that require low AC voltage.

Many have tried to, and failed, ya just can't repair stupid...

Do NOT try to Idiot-Proof anything!!!! God, will simply create a better......IDIOT!
