I finished this over the weekend. After the complaints by the rivet counters....-LOL-
I went back and re-worked the handrails so the would be correct. I have a second one that is alnost completed #503 but I ran out of NJT Disco Stripe decals.

I believe they were Ben.....HOWEVER I can say one thing! That Athearn kit was actually a Southern Pacific model......Location of the roof mounted numberboards, front facing, is a dead-give-away for the SP unit. Which, I'm not sure the NJ had in real life!

Jeez..... Tough crowd tonight.....

Other variations/photo's don't have the side handrail painted orange. When I get a chance I will paint the side handrails orange.

AF,
Not being a tough crowd....Was simply saying that the Athearn SW you used was an Athearn "spotting Feature" for they're rendition of the SP version....

The model tho, LOOKS GREAT! Please don't take me wrong the way it sounded when I had mentioned it about the SP version, was merely a reference to the Athearn model....

The paint work looks GREAT!

That big Blue, Pink, and Orange decal must have been something to get it to lay that flat on the model! Looks GREAT tho!

Then, what for color do you use for the orange handrailing, "step ends" ???? Nice and bright as it should be!

The color for the handrails is Testor's Mango, which is a gloss paint with a coat of Testor's Dull-Coat over all of the handrails. I got the shells for free, One doesn't find too many Athearn non-SP SW1500 undecorated shells.

The hardest part was the Micro-Scale NJ Transit decals are brittle and break apart.
Being that the hardest part was filling in the brake handle indentation in the shell.
This was accomplished by using the decal set and putting a small piece of the stripe in the indentation and letting the decal set do it job.

Pete,
FREE SW-1500 shells? DAMN! That's a good way of getting them!

The Testors Magenta sounds like red, when it looks orange! I'll have to go on a look out for that my next rounds to the Hobby shops! (I have the Testors "Orange" already), but it looks to be slightly different then what you used!

Correction: The correct handrail color is Testor's Mango (orange).

My LHS gave me a box of Athearn undecoarted shells and diesels with a part or two missing.
