I'm sad to say that that looks like the IHC model! HOWEVER like IHC and their 4-6-2, this is the 2-8-2, which also could be Model Power......As Model Power sold almost exact replica's of the IHC 4-6-2 and I'm not sure they didn't do the same for the 2-8-2......

The box, says IHC all over it tho, it has that AHM/IHC "gold" look, which was just after AHM went bankrupt, and IHC was reforming the old AHM from it....The "gold" box is a dead give away...I'd then have to say its a EARLY (and I do mean early!) IHC model...

I sold one just like it without even bringing it home from a meet I did ... I forget if it was the November one or the February one but I bought it right and put it out and sold it quick.

It's an AHM engine made by Mehano from about 1983 or so. Apparently from a set, but the directions were marked AHM and it came with a silver box AHM matching extended-vision caboose. It's the light 2-8-2 painted to look like the Chessie Steam Special excursion engine.

As a kid I had a Southern version that was sold in the silver box, also.

if i could be swayed to purchase a cheesie loco,it would be the reading t1 which pulled the "Chessie Steam Special" for two seasons in 1977 and 1978,much prefer the color scheme, ken

A local guy's had the Conrail 4-6-2 but he wants a fair amount for it, like $100, new in the box.

I had the 0-4-0 and sold it at a swap finally early this year.

4-6-2 $30.00
2-6-0 mother hubbards for $50.00
4-8-2 $60.00

IHC Pacifics & Mikes had separate handrails, so it could be an AHM, Model Power, or early IHC sales sample in plain cardboard.

But seeing any steamer in Cheesy System or Conrail livery... ACK!!!
