A buddy picked up an estate collection that has stuff dating to just after WWII.
In there was this piece I can't identify. It has no makers markings. It's clearly derived from a slot car, but appears to have been made as a hirail truck of some sort (until US-1 trucks came out, not many slot cars had all wheel drive). I believe the cab has been moved/modified or replaced, I can't quite get it loose to see what's going on under it. The rear shell comes off, though.
The cab reminds me of one 70s-80s Matchbox car, a small tractor trailer gas truck which the cab looked like this. The rest of it to me says late 60s early 70s.
Sorry some of the pictures stink, my camera has it's own brain and doesn't always focus on what it's supposed to.

Yes, like that truck.
It doesn't seem to matter how I set it, either it can't focus or the shutter speed is so slow the picture is blurry. Why I can't buy an all-manually set cheap digital camera instead of one that has to try to think for me, is beyond me.

It's based on the HO slot car track cleaner called Oscar. If you Google track cleaner oscar, you will see pictures of it with rubber tires. I bought one of these Yard Kat's a year ago, with the package, for $3, just by chance at a model train show. They resell very high on Ebay, the HO train version is very hard to find. That's the one I have, too, like yours. Nice score!

I can find the slot car Oscar, but this thing no matter what I throw at Google nothing comes up.
I did see one version of Oscar with this cab at the same funny angle.

I had a Fuji for a long time that still works, but was getting pretty beat and tired. So I got another, better one at a store closing sale for like 70% off.
I can set an HO car on a plain cardboard backing and take a picture from two feet away with a flash in fairly bright lighting and it still runs the shutter too slow. If I could tell it what to do I'd tell it to up the ISO or open the F-stop and keep the shutter speed to 1/125th at about the slowest.

Ok, found my Cat and the case, so here's the pictures. It's an AJ's product, made by Twinn-K Inc. in Indianapolis, IN 46231 , P.O. Box 31228 . I doubt they're still in business, but anyway...

My wife just bought a digital camera, made by GE of all companies, it is x15 magnification, and x10 Megapixels ( double my old Kodak EasyShare Z740 ), for only $150. Takes excellent photos, but hers actually has a slightly smaller lens than mine, I was taking pictures at 300 yards and getting good closeup views, hers were more blurry. But mine cost $400 new. Haven't tried close-ups with hers yet, etiher.
That has always been my gripe with digi's, you can't manually focus the lens. Well, if I bought a $1,000 digital camera, I could, one of my train club members was showing off his yesterday, it would do either, and he could get consistently better photos using his eyes with manual function than with the auto-focus. But that's a huge outlay for a camera. I guess you get what you pay for. But for the price, might want to look into the GE brand of cameras if you are looking for a replacement. I use Flower or Head shot setting on my Kodak for close-ups and clear focus. Even then, I get some out of focus. Try taking 2 or 3 of the same shot, and use the best, delete the rest. :)

First of all, that's a cool little track cleaner
Secondly, it looks like your camera is focusing on the 1:1 scale auto behind your track cleaner. Digi cams tend to focus on whatever is in the center of the frame. Most have a feature where if you press the shutter button halfway down it freezes the focus. Before taking a picture, press the button halfway to focus on your subject, then all the way to take the picture. You can use this technique to cheat the auto-focus. (This doesn't always work on super close-ups of ho )

Cool little bugger, but I bet those little pads would load up with dirt pretty fast. Seeing it in packaging surprised me... I figured it was somebody's slot car kitbash.

I'll bet they made more for slot car tracks than train tracks, as I see the Oscars advertised on Ebay and they're mostly slot car types, mine and the Poster's are the only two I've seen other than the advertisements for it which run on rails. I was DARN lucky to get it for $3 from a Mom and Pop vintage HO vendor, guess they didn't know what they had.

| I did finally hit an eBay auction listing for one, not sure why it didn't come up before, adding the "AJ's" seemed to be what pulled it up. Sold for $51.

Was that with or without container and instructions? Like I said, they sell high at auction. You got a great little piece. One day I will see if mine runs, I don't think I have even tried it yet, to tell the truth.

| Guy who actually owns this found out what it's worth, he said sell it. So I'm selling it. He needs the money. I may sell a few more pieces out of the collection for him. In exchange, I got that Milwaukee bay window caboose -
