Ken, That is from back when MDC was a good company. Narrow gaugers, loggers, and old time modelers loved the company.

Ken,

First... It's NOT AHM.. It's MDC / Roundhouse.

Next... It most likely HOn3 which is bigger (@ ~9mm) than N scale (aka HOn30).

Basically, it is true narrow gauge for HO scale.

Just like this loco of mine:

I'd call it an improvement.
I doubt if chipped paint was intended to be the overall effect.

Great looking loco Ken!

Here is one I have in my "project" bin!

It looks like a kidbashed/reworked frame to me. I liked it enough to tuck it away for a rainy day project and have had no interest in putting it on the selling block. Now that's say'n sump'n! LOL!

Whoever reworked that 0-6-0 only took material off one side of the frame, so it won't run centered on the track.

From the angle taken of the photo, it may look that way, but I assure you it is quite centered. I inspected it closely previously. If you use the motor and the cross head guide mounting screw/tab as your guide and not the steam chest, you can see it is centered.

If he's HO, his clothes are XXL (Extra, Extra Large).

Seriously, OO is 14 percent bigger than HO, and people vary in size by a lot more than 14 percent. You could use him in either scale without your size perception taking exception.
