| I can say, in all of my life, and in all the hobby shops and train shows i've been to, I have NEVER seen anything from Athearn look like that before. Looks new.

I added an article regarding Athearn's history... http://www.tycoforums.com/tyco/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=13361
Your box was used to display the kit which simultaneously advertised that "Ready To Run" rolling stock was also available. Whence it is so printed.
Advertisements offered Kit and R-T-R prices.
and my $0.02 comment... It's funny, kits had been cheaper, then r-t-r became cheaper, kits increased in price for "more detail" applications, and then r-t-r shot up in price of the same kit... and then the easier kits became hard to find until now, only found in swap meets and ebay. Well, except for those new kits that ya can't find for less than $50!
I don't have a one track mind. It depends on the turn-out. "I love your catenary!" Is that a power-trip or just another pick-up line?
