They were sold by a number of companies over the years.

thanks nickleplate I went to hoseeker and the only thing I could find was a blurred instruction sheet for it. I did find a better one for a MEHENO sd40 that was a little better. would like to rebuild these but parts may be a problem. for starters one of the motors is missing a brush and spring. I suppose I could improvise I checked out the MEHENO web site and the appear to only sell train sets and no parts. well I will set these aside for now , a good kit bashing project

You might look at HOSeeker Model Power diesel diagrams. It appears that they use the same motor. The RS11, RS2 & others use this motor. I believe that the model power F2 may use a updated motor that may fit the same mounting. I have not verified that this motor is a drop in replacement. Good Luck! Unfortunately the key parts on these are the driveshafts - I just cobbed one back together a while back. They're unique to these locomotives. Without those, all you have is some spare parts. But then with the handrails smashed off that's all they're good for anyways.
The motor is fully interchangeable with GP18, later RS11 and RS2, and the SD40-2, if you change the couplings on the ends. Later Premier versions of this loco they changed the motor and mounting somewhat. The gears in the trucks are also interchangable with some of the gears in the other locomotives. Truck clips are unique (I still need one).

I have a complete drive shaft on one of them. many thanks to Hypoponera for the parts I need to get 1 up and running
I was not sure if the gears were interchageable with my RS2 I had found somebody on EBAY who had a huge collection of parts on their e store. Sorry IVRR325 didn't see any truck clips but will keep an eye out when I go to the train show next weekend

Most of the 4 wheel and 6 wheel trucks have interchangable parts. I just wish a gear reduction kit was made for these! I say go ahead and add all-wheel pick up to. The wheels are on a insulated axle so no shorts will occur.

There is: a pair of Atlas Alco worms. They cut the speed in half.

No one has them on eBay right now. Atlas lists worms for the RS-1, but there's no picture so I can't be sure they are the same.

| Watch out for those Atlas worms! I tried the plastic Atlas worms in Mehano trucks. They don't fit! So I now have a bunch of the Atlas worms that I can't use. Stick with the hard to find brass worms. These are made by Kato and sold under both the Kato name as well as the Atlas name.

| thanks for the heads up I was toying with the idea of trying the atlas worms. I know that NWSL has metal reduction sets for AHM steam engines, but diesels? would have to check the specs. really close

Here's another thread on the subject, and a link to Darth's MR thread about it. He used a different model worm that is smaller diameter and quite a bit shorter, as you'll see in the pics.

The Atlas part description is "ATLAS Alco Worm & Shaft 707315," but they don't seem to be available anymore.
