I would like to buy the older Bachmann 2-8-0 that's prone to plastic cracking. I hear it's rather close to the Reading prototype. What could be done to upgrade the pancake motor and axles and gears? A chassis built from scratch or another frame kitbashed would be troublesome I think. Nice looking model to be a Bachmann.

Bowser put out an upgrade kit years ago...they can still be found on eBay but they do get rather pricey.

Didn't some one here have a link of how a Bachmann kader-cake was upgraded with a better drive? I want a Bowser 2-8-0 conversion kit, if it means spending at least $50 or more, I would rather experiment with parts and make my own up grade.
