Here is the start of my new layout, This is the yard section. There is going to be a 2 track mainline, and a few industries. I also just got a 4x8 layout for free off of Craigslist that I want to work in, but it is already wired, has switch machines, block wiring etc so I have to work in the existing control panel (I was hoping for a central control panel but now I am rethinking it.) I am thinking of putting it on the right end of the yard. I just need to do some basic work on it like track cleaning, Fixing some plaster, updating it a bit etc. The whole layout will be DC for the foreseeable due to 99% of my equipment being DC. I do plan on doing both DCC and DC eventually, so my DCC engines will run better. Don't really have a prototype, I just sort of run what ever catches my eye. I am interested in PRR, Penn Central, BN, Santa Fe, Conrail, Chessie System and other railroads from the Merger Era. Also the transisiton era. On second thought it would be easier to list the eras/ railroads I am not interested in.
Some Pics...

(Don't mind the crossing gate )

And for kicks, my started kit-bashing project.

I still need to wire up some blocks, and do some scenic work. I am hoping to add a water tower and such for steamers. Always work to be done!!

Looking good. You have some nice looking engines and I bet they are waiting to get out on the mainline.

Thanks guys! I am hoping to expand the engine terminal, as this one only has room for about 4 engines, and I have like 25 more in storage that I want to bring out. I would like a roundhouse and turntable but I don't have the space. I also need to find a way to make my cats stop eating and carrying off my trees

And I will definitely update you guys on my progress! I should get to work on it more after this semester is over in a few weeks.

I heard the chemical some modelers use to blacken metal parts is like cat repellent. I heard of a clever model railroader putting a few drops of in places where their cat liked to do its businessNeedless to say, the cat went in the litter box from then on.

Nice layout, looking forward to seeing more pics as your layout progresses.

Love that brass track, nothing beats it for the soft patina. I really enjoyed looking at your work, it is work from the heart. It has the feel of things you have seen, heard, enjoyed and you are recreating it for us to experience. I can almost feel the sharp edge of a cold November day coming off the screen. Keep at it and show us what more you will do. It is a pleasure to see a railroad like this. MORE!
