Today I went to a swap meet show that is not club affiliated, but travels around west and central Florida on a circuit. By chance, they had a local event and I had never been to their shows, so "Mom" let me have some money and I went. Came out with two good purchases- one, wholly unexpected and the other pleasantly suprised.

The wholly unexpected- a Proto 2000 BL2 in great shape for $15.00. Yes, I said "$15.00"!!!!

The other was a TYCO Chattanooga Choo Choo, also for a great price- another $15.00!!!!!

That Choo Choo brings to mind a rebuild/rehab project that Darth Santa Fe did a while ago, so I may be turning it into a Great Northern or Norrthern Pacific engine- with improvements- during the summer.

Even "Mom" was happily suprised (probably that I didn't spend a lot of money....)!

$15 is a cheap price for a Proto, Those Bl-2's sell for over 50 usually on Ebay now, used to couldn't give them away a few years ago, now they're hot sellers. I got one for 25 at the show last weekend, and thought that was a deal. Way to go! Nice on the Chat, too.

Nice finds. If that BL2 is one of the early runs it could have bad gears. A comon problem with their early 2 axel diesels. If when you test run it and it runs with no clunking sound you are OK. Still you should inspect the axel gears for cracks between the gears.
