Hi everyone,
I haven't been around for a while - been busy with a lot of things. As you know, I had a break-in back in September and they made off with $50,000 worth of tools and trains. I have since alarmed the premises with an ear-splitting alarm system - three separate alarm bases, in fact.
My wife woke me up at 3:15 this morning to an alarm going off. Cops were there in less than 90 seconds, nothing taken, family safe, no weapons used, nothing.
The premises are again secure, and no filing a report with the insurance company again! I'm SO happy I put that money into the alarm system, and even happier my family is safe. Just thought I'd update everyone, and wanted to share in my celebration!

Cool deal, dude. Really glad for you and your family.
Could have been the same perpetrators coming back for more. I don't intend to hijack your post but, I've got a story to tell about alarm systems and not too bright criminals that might be enlightening or even humorous.
I know this guy who lives out in a rural area next to a town that has a bad reputation for crime. He has a shop at his house where he works on stuff such a pressure washers, etc. He has the shop door wired to a loud radio. So late one Tuesday night he wakes up hearing the radio blaring. Gets out there and the door to the shop has been opened. He thinks: somebody tried to steal my stuff. Being a kind of rudimentary guy, not wanting to deal with complex alarms, he decides to stand guard over his shop. For a week, he stands guard from about 9:oo p.m. until about 4:00 a.m. (He's self employed). Well, the next Tuesday about the same time at night he sees a small pickup come down the road, pull over to the shoulder and stop about an 1/8 mile away. A little bit later, 2 guys approach his house from the side yard. Ol' Wyatt Earp takes his shotgun and points it over their heads--BOOM. The two guys start running away into the dark. Earp then takes an automatic .22, holding it waist level, unloading the magazine-tat-tat-tat. About an hour later, the pickup truck pulls away, lights out. He keeps standing guard. The NEXT Tuesday night, here comes a pickup truck down the road. This time it comes by the house and slows down to a crawl. Earp lets loose with the shotgun. Somebody in the truck starts shouting: go man go, let's go!!! Truck speeds off. So far, no more problems.
Unspoken expectations are premeditated failures.

Great story! Glad to hear you have an alarm system! My mom has a .45 glock lock and loaded with hollow points. You're gonna have a bad day if you break in her house!

When lots of people lose their jobs and can't get new one, the number of con artist's crooks and thieves grows. Most people like to work for a living. Also living in e secluded area on a large piece of property with you house not being able to be viewed from a road, and far from a neighbor, is not a good thing.
