Another Mantua boxcar (reefer). MDT, got it for $6 NIB at a train show, wanted it for the red white and blue stripes.

I found this Louisiana Car by Mantua in a box of old cars.
I was going to try and find one at the next big train show in July but I don't need to now.

IHC makes them. About the only thing that hasn't changed since their takeover. You may be lucky to find older AHM or Riva Rossi interiors. There are also "Lighted" assemblies out there.
While these cars are generally light, I have always admired their simplicity towards assembly and detail.

P.S. Could you imagine weighing these down with pennies? What if you had to pay $1 for a roll of pennies, to use them as weight? NOW your wheels are turning!
I don't have a one track mind. It depends on the turn-out. "I love your catenary!" Is that a power-trip or just another pick-up line?

My COTW is an Ohio Seamless Tube gondola, found in a box under some shelving in the basement this weekend while cleaning and organizing. Totally forgot about these Varney cars I had. Anyway, has some whitish mold on it, need to clean it up some, but otherwise it's in nice shape.

I got this one at the Hickory train show this past weekend. It's for the '50s era layout I'm "going to build."

Here is my car of the week, I was told that back in the 50's or 60's Mantua had a train set that all the cars and caboose was Star-Kist. I had seen members on this site with with the cars, I think they were 4 different colors, but I never seen the caboose. Well I won this one on eBay and it is so cool.
