Hi guys,

I have an old tyco Exxon tanker that had 6 wheel trucks. Had being the key word. My son pulled them off and broke off one of the tabs on each of the trucks...

I have searched ebay for the last few week with no luck...

Might anyone have a couple good ones they would like to part with??

Hi Jeff, I have had good luck in repairing these trucks. Cut off all of the tabs. Glue a small square of plastic stock on the bottom of the truck underneath where the pins were. Dill a 3/32" hole in the truck. Take an appropriate size piece of plastic rod or old sprue and find a matching size drill bit. Drill out the bolster area on the car. Insert a piece of the rod/sprue into the hole with a bit of super glue on it. Then drill a small hole in the center of the rod that will accept whatever screw you are going to use. I drill and tap for a #2-56 screw but you can use a sheet metal type of screw just as easily.

If you don't have a piece of rod or sprue the correct size. Just stick whatever you do have in a drill chuck and using a file or samdpaper, turn it down to what you need. When you insert the rod into the bolster, leave it a little too long and file it down to size later. This will help you a lot especially if you are going to use KD couplers and want them to be at the proper height.
